HOTEL KÖNIG VON UNGARN - A LEGEND TELLS ITS STORY

My character has matured through centuries. I was first mentioned in my current vocation in 1764. My ancestral history goes back to the Gothic period. My base is still a largely preserved building structure. That is why I am under strict protection. From the Monuments Office - and from the neighbouring St. Stephen's Cathedral. I have always been on a one-to-one basis with the Viennese landmark. For 200 years I served as a guest house for church dignitaries of St. Stephen. During the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy from 1867 to 1918, I was ennobled by high-ranking people and magnates from Hungary. Some of them stayed in luxurious annual flats for decades. I therefore bear my name King of Hungary for good reason and quite rightly.

The Hotel König von Ungarn is one of the oldest hotels in Vienna. Such a long tradition also tells a long story. A history that fascinates our entire team as much as it does many of our guests. Occasionally we receive historical documents from them concerning our hotel. That's how we know that the Hotel König von Ungarn is mentioned in Sándor Márai and in a piece by Julio Cortázar. Perhaps, you have also seen an old illustration? Or our hotel mentioned in a novel? Please send us your discoveries. We look forward to your support!

If you would like to know more details about the history of the hotel in return, please browse through the current history booklet by Rita Klement. The historian and state-certified tourist guide has worked very intensively on the history of the hotel. The book is available at our reception

Our history

Indulgence

Spoiling also includes culinary delights.

For this purpose, we have engaged sustainable suppliers.
For an enjoyable start in the day, we offer breakfast Monday-Friday from 6.30 to 11.00 am, Saturday, Sunday and holiday from 6.30 to 11.30 am.
The setting for this is the vaulted restaurant "Mozartstüberl" within the venerable walls of the closely associated Mozart House.
This is where the world-famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived from 1784 to 1787 and during this time he also composed "The Marriage of Figaro".

Starting at 3 pm, the bar in our atrium is open for aperitivo and snacks like crispy Sacher sausages and hearty goulash.
Room service is available until 11.30 pm.
