Location and arrival

What is the fastest way to reach the city center from the hotel?

The best way is by foot. Our hotel is located right in the center of Vienna in the 1st district next to St. Stephen's Cathedral. Surrounded by the best restaurants in Vienna, shopping opportunities, and cultural institutions, you can reach the most important sights & attractions in Vienna by foot - for ex. Stephansplatz (St. Stephen's square), the Hofburg, the Parliament, the Kärntnerstraße, or the Goldenes Quartier (Golden Quarter) with its luxury shops.

What is the best way to reach the hotel from the airport or vice versa?

The fastest way to reach the hotel or airport is our transfer service – the current price from the airport is 48 Euro and to the airport is 40 Euro depending on the number of people.

You can take a taxi, which we will gladly organize for you. You can also use public transportation and take the airport bus or the CAT train - both can be reached from the hotel by the U-Bahn (subway).  

Where are the best shopping opportunities around the hotel?

Directly around the Stephansplatz on the Kärntner Straße, the Graben, the Tuchlauben, and the Rotenturmstraße, as well as on all side streets in the 1st district. Shops including everything from Prada and Louis Vuitton to many small, exquisite boutiques are awaiting you.

Parking

Where is the best place to park near the hotel, and how much does it cost?

For unloading your luggage, you can stop right outside the hotel. You can park in the "Garage Cobdengasse" (height limit 1,85 m) for a reduced price of 20 Euro for 24 hours. A reservation is not required, and parking tickets are available at the reception desk in the hotel.

How long is the reception desk open?

Around the clock: 24 hrs. daily.

Check-in/check-out times?

You can check-in starting at 2:00 pm. If your room is already ready when you arrive, you can check in earlier. If you arrive early and your room isn't ready, you can store your luggage with us for free and go ahead and explore Vienna.

On your departure day, your room is available until 12:00 pm. By request in advance and based on availability, a later departure is possible with a late check-out fee (50% of the daily rate).

When and where is breakfast?

Daily in our breakfast restaurant from 6:30 am to 12:00 pm. 

Are there breakfast options for guests with intolerances, allergies, and diabetes?

We gladly offer options for guests with special needs. Please contact us concerning this matter before your arrival.

Is breakfast included in the room price?

This depends on your booking. You can find details in your booking confirmation.

What does the concierge service offer?

Our concierge service will organize everything for you: from opera tickets to sightseeing tours - we are happy to help you.

Is a laundry service available at the hotel?

We offer laundry services from Monday to Saturday. If you drop off your laundry at the reception desk by 9:00 am, your items will be cleaned and returned on the same day.

We will also provide an iron and ironing board in your room.

Where is smoking allowed?

In accordance with Austrian law, our hotel is a non-smoking business. We offer our guests a covered smoking area near both hotel entrances.

How can I get my boarding passes?

Simply use our guest PC in the wonderful inner courtyard and print out your boarding passes.

Hotel and room amenities

Is there a safe/hair dryer in the room?

Yes, there is a hair dryer and safe in every room, and there is also a safe at the reception desk if needed.

Do the rooms have an air conditioning unit?

Yes. All rooms have an air conditioning unit that can be individually adjusted.

Is there an electric kettle in the room?

Upon request, we will provide you with an electric kettle in your room.

Is there a mini bar in the room?

Yes. All rooms are equipped with a well-stocked mini bar.

How many people can stay in one room?

Except for rare exceptions, our double rooms are suited only for double occupancy. Our maisonettes are ideal for more than 2 people and families with children. Feel free to ask us directly and enjoy direct booking benefits. Cribs are also available in every category.

Can I have extra pillows, and are hypoallergenic bed linens and down duvets available?

Upon request, we offer additional pillows  as well as down duvets and special hypoallergenic mattress toppers.

Is there wellness, cosmetics, and a sauna?

For our guests, we recommend the nearby AISAWAN Boutique Spa (2 min. from the hotel). Right around the corner from our hotel, you can experience wellness of the highest level.

Are handicap-accessible/barrier-free rooms available at the hotel?

For handicap-accessible accommodations here at Hotel König von Ungarn, we ask that you contact us directly (by telephone at: +43 1 515 84-0 or by e-mail at hotel@kvu.at) when making your reservation so that we are able to best fulfill your wishes.

Pets

Are dogs allowed in the hotel?

Of course. We welcome your four-legged friend and do not charge an extra fee.

Payment

What payment options are available at the hotel?

We accept payment in cash, debit card, or one of the following credit cards:
Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Diners, or JCB

Will the credit card I provide be automatically charged when I book a room online via the website?

This depends on the type of booking. For pre-paid bookings, your card will immediately be charged for the entire amount. For bookings at a standard rate, the card will simply be pre-authorized for the amount of the first night, and you will pay the remaining amount at the hotel.

Are gift certificates available to purchase from Hotel König von Ungarn?

Yes, of course. You can use our gift certificate form, send us an e-mail at hotel@kvu.at, or contact us by telephone at +43 1 515 84-0, and we will be happy to provide you with a gift certificate.

Can I book a room online without a credit card?

This is not possible online. Please contact us by e-mail at hotel@kvu.at or by telephone at +43 1 515 84-0. We also accept bank transfers.

What are the direct booking advantages?

Is the tip included in the prices in Austria?

The tip for employees is not included in the price in Austria and is thus a voluntary service provided by our guests.

From where does the name "Hotel König von Ungarn" come?

Our motto is "good style is always inconspicuous" - from the outside, the hotel appears rather ordinary and inconspicuous, and this is exactly what our guests love. With a long tradition dating back to 1746, the hotel is a structure from the 14th century with an incomparable mixture of Viennese tradition, a top location, and top service.

How long has the hotel been in existence?

As far as we know, the first guests stayed here as early as the 14th century, and the hotel has has been called Hotel König von Ungarn since 1746.
