FAQ - Frequently asked questions

1. What time is check-in or check-out?

You can check into your room from 2 pm on the day of arrival. Depending on availability, also a little earlier. If you arrive earlier, we will be happy to store your luggage until your room is ready. On the day of departure you can stay in your room until 12 noon. A late check-out is possible at a small extra charge, subject to availability.

2. How do I reach the hotel?

The hotel KÖNIG VON UNGARN is located in the heart of Vienna's city centre, only 50 metres behind St. Stephen's Cathedral. Therefore, the hotel is easily accessible by public transport.

Underground: U1 and U3 Stephansplatz

Bus: 1A and 2A Stephansplatz.

3. How do I reach the reception internally?

You can reach us personally at extension "58".

4. When is the reception desk staffed?

You can reach us personally around the clock Monday to Sunday.

5. When is breakfast served?

Our breakfast buffet is available on the ground floor: Monday-Friday  from 6:30 to 11:00 am ,Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 6:30 to 11:30 am. If you wish, you can also enjoy your breakfast in your room. You will find the order form for this in the information folder in your room. Orders are also gladly accepted by telephone under extension "15".

6. When is the bar open?

The bar is open from 3 pm until midnight.

7. Should I leave the room key at the reception?

During your absence, it is best to leave the key at the reception. During the night hours the entrance door is closed for your safety, by ringing the outside bells our night porter will open the door for you at any time.

8. Does the Hotel King of Hungary offer airport pick-up?

If you provide us with your flight number and arrival time before your arrival, we will be happy to organise a transfer for you. The price is € 57,00 for a limousine and € 75,00 for a van. If you have any requests for a return transfer, please let the reception know. It is advisable to depart from the hotel approximately 2 hours before departure.

9. Do you organise concert and opera tickets?

Our very experienced concierge Michael Fallmann will be happy to assist you with his many years of experience in procuring tickets for all cultural events.

11. which museums and sights are near the hotel?

The hotel is located directly behind St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna's landmark. The Vienna State Opera, the Albertina, the Vienna Hofburg, St. Peter's Church and many more are within walking distance. A walk along the Graben, Kohlmarkt, Hofburg to the museums and Maria-Theresien-Platz is beautiful. Opposite is the Museumsquartier with the Leopold Museum, the MUMOK (Museum of Modern Art) and a beautiful courtyard with cafés, housed in the former court stables.

12. Where can I do my shopping nearby?

The Kärntner Straße and the Graben, as well as the Kohlmarkt as exclusive shopping miles are in the immediate vicinity and can be reached on foot. Vienna's longest shopping street, Mariahilfer Straße, is 3 underground stations away (U3 Neubaugasse). We are happy to give you tips for smaller local shops on site.

13. Is Schönbrunn Palace also in the centre?

The Habsburg summer residence Schönbrunn Palace with the Gloriette and the zoo is best reached by underground (U1 from Stephansplatz to Karlsplatz, then U4 direction Hütteldorf to Hietzing for the zoo or to Schönbrunn for the palace). A walk through the park to the Gloriette for a Viennese pastry is worthwhile.

14. What is the best way to get to the Prater and the Ferris wheel?

The quickest way to get to the Prater is to take the U1 from Stephansplatz to Praterstern. You can also walk to the Vienna Prater with the Giant Ferris Wheel in about 30 minutes, a nice walk along the Danube Canal. On the occasion of the World Exhibition, the Giant Ferris Wheel was built in 1896/97 by the English engineer Walter Basset on the site of the Kaisergarten. Although it has been a landmark of the city from the very beginning, it became world famous through the key scene in the cinema classic "The Third Man".

15. Where can I get tickets for public transport?

You are welcome to purchase tickets for single trips or 24h to 72h at the reception.
